Household population comprises 99.98 percent of the total population

As of 01 May 2020, Pugo, La Union had a total population of 19,337 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.98 percent or 19,333 persons. This is 0.30 thousand lower than the 19,636 household population in 2015, and 2.82 thousand more than the 16,514 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

The remaining 0.02 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.
Number of households increased by 0.14 thousand from 4.81 thousand in 2015 to 4.95 thousand in 2020

The total number of households in Pugo, La Union reached 4,953 in 2020. This is higher by 0.14 thousand compared with the 4,811 households in 2015 and by 1.34 thousand compared with 3,614 households in 2010. (Table B)
Two in every five households in the municipality are in Barangays Cares, Palina, San Luis, and Cuenca

Among the 14 barangays, Cares had the most number of households in 2020 with 671, followed by Palina with 523, San Luis with 495, and Cuenca with 484. These four barangays comprised 43.87 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Tavora East posted the least number of households with 189 households.
Average household size declines to 3.9 persons in 2020

The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.1 persons in 2015 to 3.9 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.6 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

Eight out of 14 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 3.9 persons.
