Household population comprises 99.69 percent of the total population

As of 01 May 2020, Bauang, La Union had a total population of 78,449 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.69 percent or 78,209 persons. This is 3.40 thousand higher than the 74,805 household population in 2015, and 7.63 thousand more than the 70,582 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

The remaining 0.31 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.
Number of households increased by 2.54 thousand from 17.25 thousand in 2015 to 19.80 thousand in 2020

The total number of households in Bauang, La Union reached 19,796 in 2020. This is higher by 2.54 thousand compared with the 17,254 households in 2015 and by 3.88 thousand compared with 15,920 households in 2010. (Table B)
One in every five households in the municipality are in Barangays Acao, Central East (Pob.), Paringao, and Central West (Pob.)

Among the 39 barangays, Acao had the most number of households in 2020 with 1,175, followed by Central East (Pob.) with 1,123, Paringao with 1,093 and Central West (Pob.) with 998. These four barangays comprised 22.17 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Pilar posted the least number of households with 100 households.
Average household size declines to 4.0 persons in 2020

The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.3 persons in 2015 to 4.0 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.4 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

Twelve out of 39 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 4.0 persons.
