The commercial fisheries volume of production in Ilocos Region was posted at 1,506.36 metric tons in 3 rd quarter 2021. The output was lower by 29.66 percent than the level in 3rd quarter 2020 of 2,141.59 metric tons.

The decreased output of Pangasinan pulled down the overall commercial fisheries production of the region.

 

The top five major catch in the region during the 3 rd quarter 2021 were skipjack, roundscad, yellowfin tuna, indo-pacific mackerel and slipmouth.

 

In terms of provincial shares, Pangasinan accounted for 70.31 percent of the region’s commercial fisheries volume of production in 3 rd quarter 2021.

However, the province recorded a production of 1,059.11 metric tons, lower than the output in 3 rd quarter 2020 of 1,746.49 metric tons. Lesser fishing days and fishing trips were noted during the period.

 

The top five major catch in Pangasinan during the quarter were skipjack, roundscad, yellowfin tuna, frigate tuna and threadfin bream.

 

La Union shared 23.38 percent to the total commercial fish catch of the region in 3 rd quarter 2021. It posted increment in output of 10.66 percent. From the 318.26 metric tons recorded in 3 rd quarter 2020, production grew to 352.18 metric tons in 3 rd quarter 2021.

The top five major catch in La Union during the quarter were indo-pacific mackerel, slipmouth, hairtail, goatfish and indian mackerel.

 

Ilocos Sur contributed 6.31 percent to the total commercial fisheries volume of production in 3 rd quarter 2021. Its production of 95.07 metric tons went up by 23.72 percent from the 76.84 metric tons output in 3 rd quarter 2020.

Major species that contributed to the total output of the province include skipjack, roundscad and yellowfin tuna.
