Marriage ceremonies decrease by 45 percent  

• There were 14,636 registered marriages in 2020, showing a decrease of 45 percent from 2019.    
• The decrease in number of registered marriages was observed in all provinces of the region from 2019 to 2020.  
• La Union has the biggest decrease in the number of registered marriages (48 percent).
• Pangasinan had the most number of registered marriages (9,105) for 2020 that is translated to a 62 percentage share to the region.  
• La Union ranked second with the most number of registered marriages (2,105).
• Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte followed with 1,933 registered marriages and 1,493 registered marriages, respectively.

Civil rites highest in 2020

• There were 7,082 registered marriages through Civil ceremonies for 2020.  The highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
• Roman Catholic marriage rites followed at 4,733 registered marriages.
• Thirty-seven (37) Muslim marriages were registered in 2020.

Teenage brides reached more than seven hundred in 2020

• There are 733 teenage brides who were registered in 2020.
• The median age of brides based from the registered marriages in 2020  was at 27 years old.  This means that half the number of brides was younger than  27 years old and half was older than 27 years old.
• The grooms had a median age of 28 years old. 
• Most brides belong in the age group 25 to 29 that is 38 percent of the total  number.
• The highest number of grooms was also from the age group 25 to 29 that is 39 percent of the total number.  

American tops the list of other citizenships as groom or bride of a Filipino citizen

• There are 22 Americans who were registered as brides and 94 American grooms were also listed in 2020.
• Followed by 20 Australian brides and 26 Canadian grooms listed in 2020.
