18 March 2021 – Ilocos Region. Operations for Step 2 Registration of the Philippine Identification System continue to roll out on a gradual, small-scale basis in three (3) provinces in Ilocos Region: Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.
Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman and OIC of Civil Registration and Administrative Support Division (CRASD) Camille Carla U. Beltran supervised the ceremonial opening of the Step 2 registration in some cities and municipalities in La Union.
Atty. De Guzman graced the opening ceremonies in Balaoan, La Union. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to the local government unit (LGU) chief executive and local civil registrar for their active support in the implementation of PhilSys in their hometown.
During the ceremonial opening in San Gabriel, La Union, Ms. Beltran commended the LGU for providing adequate working space and a well-ventilated registration center for this undertaking.
The Step 2 registration process involves the validation of supporting documents and capturing of biometric information, such as fingerprints, iris scans, and front-facing photographs.
PSA has a co-location strategy with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) to enable registrants to open bank accounts on site after completing Step 2 Registration. This is one of the bank’s strategies to promote financial inclusion for all Filipinos.
