Data on deaths presented in this release were obtained from the Certificate of Death  (Municipal Form 103) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Offices in Ilocos Region. Information included deaths registered in November 2019 and in November 2020.

Registered deaths in all provinces decreased in November 2020

• Ilocos Region registered a total of 2,671 deaths in November 2020.
• Pangasinan topped the highest number of deaths in November 2020.  Its share was more than half (59 percent) of the total registered deaths in the region, at 1,572 deaths.  
• La Union ranked second with 415 deaths (16 percent). 
• Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte followed at 354 deaths (13 percent) and 330 (12 percent), respectively, in November 2020. 
• In all provinces, the number of deaths decreased from 2019 to 2020.        

Males outnumber females in terms of registered deaths in November 2020

• Males (1,537) outnumbered females (1,134) in terms of registered deaths  in November 2020, resulting in a sex ratio of 136 males per 100 females.
• La Union posted a sex ratio of 140 in November 2020, higher than the regional ratio.
• Pangasinan followed with a sex ratio of 139 and Ilocos Norte with a sex ratio of 132 in November 2020.  
• Ilocos Sur posted the lowest sex ratio in the region with 120 in November 2020.

Deaths in the region were mostly medically attended in November 2020

• There were 1,188 total registered deaths that were attended by medical practitioners.
• Deaths that were not medically attended reached up to 1,483.

Percentage of deaths attended by health professionals highest in La Union in November 2020

• La Union had the highest percentage of recorded deaths attended by health professionals with 65 percent of the total registered deaths in the province in November 2020.
• In Ilocos Norte, health professionals attended to 51 percent of the total registered deaths in the province in November 2020.
• In Ilocos Sur, health professionals attended to 42 percent of the total registered deaths in the province while 38 percent of the total registered deaths registered in Pangasinan were attended by health professionals.   
• Among provinces, Pangasinan had the most number of deaths assisted by health professionals at 601 deaths in November 2020.

There were 53 corpses cremated in Ilocos Region in November 2020

• Generally, corpses in the region were disposed through burial.  In November 2020, there were 2,604 corpses who were buried.
• Pangasinan had the most number of corpses buried while Ilocos Norte had the least number of buried corpses at 1,534 and 330, respectively, in November 2020.
• Cremation is another option for corpse disposal.  In the region, there were 53 corpses registered in November 2020.
• Pangasinan registered thirty-seven (37) cremated corpses while La Union listed sixteen (16) cremated corpses.
