08 January 2021 – Ilocos Region. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducts the January 2021 Labor Force Survey (LFS) enumeration with rider questions from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) regarding school-to-work transition and United Nations (UN) Women on 08 to 31 January 2021.
Around 24 hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) will undertake the survey using the Computer-Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) in Region I. A total of 1,502 randomly selected sample households from 102 sample barangays and Enumeration Areas (EAs) in the region will be visited/interviewed.
The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
The CHED’s rider questions on the school-to-work transition aims to provide data support on the challenge to shorten the school-to-work transition and raise youth employment rate. It also aims to determine the impact of the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) on labor and school participation. On the other hand, the UN Women’s rider questions aims to collect data on the gendered impacts and consequences of COVID-19.
Minimum public health and safety standards against COVID-19 will be observed during the enumeration.
The PSA appeals to the sample households to cooperate and provide truthful, complete, and accurate information to the enumerators. The information gathered will ultimately serve as a vital input in evidence-based planning and decision-making. The respondents are assured that data to be collected in the survey shall be covered
by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
