The Philippine Statistics Authority La Union Provincial Statistical Office is conducting the April 2020 Labor Force Survey (LFS) amidst the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID – 2019) pandemic. The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households which aims to gather data on demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. Moreover, LFS highlights the data changes in the employment status of a person 15 years old and over (employed, unemployed, and not in the labor force) during a specified period of time. The LFS is used to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.

The Consumer Rapid Assessment is a rider survey for this round as requested by the National Economic and Development Authority on behalf of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) - Technical Working Group (TWG) on Anticipatory and Forward Planning. The survey will serve as a basis of the TWG in assessing the impact of COVID-19 and Enhance Community Quarantine and incorporate appropriate policy recommendations that will help stimulate the economy and adapt to the “new normal” state of economic activities.

A total number of twenty-five (25) sample barangays with approximately 396 sample households will be interviewed by the PSA personnel which includes 10 enumerators and 2 team supervisors starting from 20 April 2020 that will end on 20 May 2020.

The conduct of the survey is pursuant to the IATF for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (EID) Resolution No. 22, series of 2020, dated 8 April 2020, providing exemption to PSA to conduct data gathering and survey activities related to COVID-19 including those related to the registration and implementation of the National Identification System during the Enhance Community Quarantine.

Furthermore, PSA reassures the public that the data gathered of the said survey is for statistical purposes only. Information obtained from the respondents shall be accorded STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL as provided under RA 10625. Data gathered from this survey will be published in a summary of forms without reference to any individual person or household.
