The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) conducts the second level training on 2019 Integrated Census Map Updating Activity on July 29 to August 10, 2019 at Dagupan Village Hotel, Lucao District, City of Dagupan, Pangasinan. The main purpose of this activity is to train the personnel involved on the processes in the creation of accurate and reliable Enumeration Area (EA) maps and the creation of the final Enumeration Area Reference File (EARF) to be used in the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH).

For the 2019 Integrated Census Map Updating Activity, this mainly covers the processing of geotagged buildings, updating of digitized maps, and EA delineation and merging for the development of the EARF. Specifically, the activity involves different processes which include processing of geo-tagged building points, updating of layers for barangay boundaries and road networks, processing of field validated layers and boundaries, and delineation and merging of enumeration areas.

In addition, the activity also covers all barangay/EAs that are candidates for delineation and merging. These areas include those barangays and EAs covered in the geo-tagging activities during the period 2017-2020. Geo-tagged areas not subject for delineation or merging activity are also included in the processing activities. The processing activities for this undertaking cover only the repositioning of geo-tagged points; updating of rivers, road networks, and barangay/EA boundaries; delineation/merging of EAs; field validation activities, and; the finalization of EARF.

In Region I, about 1,544 and 66 EAs are subject for delineation and merging respectively. There are 25 Map Data Processors (MDPs), 27 Map Data Verifiers (MDVs), four Map Data Reviewers (MDRs), and one Regional Mapping Clerk (RMC) hired for the whole region. The trainers of the second level training are Dr. Divino Amor P. Rivera, Regional Focal Person; Mr. Joy Lived, Alternate Focal Person of Ilocos Sur; and Mr. Edito Grande of PSA-Central Office.

The 2019 Integrated Census Map Activity in the region is expected to be completed on December 23, 2019.
