The Regional Statistical Committee (RSC) I in partnership with various line agencies will launch the 29th National Statistics Month Celebration on October 3, 2018 at the Oasis Country Resort Hotel, San Fernando City, La Union.

The theme for this year’s celebration “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statisticstowards Sustainable Tourism Development” reflects the significance of statistics in datagathering, planning, policy and decision making of the country recognizing statistics’ major role to uplift various sectors of society particularly the tourism industry and to ensure prosperity and economic progress.

Among the highlight of said event includes Regional Statistics Exhibit which will run from October 4-12, 2018 at the CSI Mall, City San Fernando, La Union. The exhibit which will be participated by RSC member agencies will feature statistical data through brochures, flyers and infographics.Moreover; the upcoming activities for this month’s celebration includestatistical competitions such as jingle singing, oratorical competition, statistics quiz, poster- slogan making and essay writing contests participated in by the students of secondary and tertiary schools of the province. Moreover, a statistical training and symposium on 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey (NHDS) will be conducted as part of the information dissemination activity designed to provide data on demography and health status in the region. The 29th NSM Celebration will culminate on October 29, 2018 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas La Union Regional Office (BSP-LURO) where awarding of winners in various categories will take place. Also, winners for the Search for Best 29th NSM Province Implementer will be recognized.

The event will not be possible without the cooperation and support of the major sponsors from various government agencies including Department of Tourism (DOT),Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine Statics Authority (PSA), Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Philippine Statistical Association Inc. (PSAI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), LGUs and private sectors in the region.

As stated in Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of EveryYear as the National Statistics Month,” NSM is annually celebrated nationwide.
