The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office in partnership with the Pangasinan Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) successfully facilitated the Provincial Elimination on Statistics Quiz in celebration of the 35th National Statistics Month with the theme: “Advancing Data and Statistics through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.” The whole day event was held last 11 October 2024 at the Department of Education Schools Division Office I – Pangasinan. In the morning of the said activity, the Secondary Level was administered, afternoon of which the Tertiary Level was conducted. 

Both categories were graced via a welcome message from Senior Statistical Specialist Verna M. Palsimon. Introduction of the Board of Judges followed led by the Chairman, Statistical Specialist II Ana Liza B. Orperia from PSA Pangasinan together with Administrative Officer I Engr. Justher Nielzeen I. Yabes and Administrative Aide VI Diane T. De Luna from PSA Pangasinan and Pangasinan Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO). The Contest guidelines was presented by Statistical Specialist II Ana Liza B. Orperia. The contest proper was facilitated by the Quiz Masters Statistical Analyst Lorraine Joy D. Fat for the Secondary Level and Statistical Specialist II Arjel A. Manlongat for the Tertiary Level. Each competing school was represented by three students.

The event concluded with the awarding of winners. Secondary Level winners were as follows: Champion – Alaminos City National High School, 1st Runner-up – Speaker Eugenio Perez Agricultural School, and 2nd Runner-up – Mangaldan National High School. Meanwhile, winners for the Tertiary Level were as follows: Champion – Kingfisher School of Business and Finance, 1st Runner Up – Universidad De Dagupan, and 2nd Runner Up – WCC Aeronautical and Technological College of Binalonan.

Winners received Cash Prizes and Certificates of Recognition while non-winners also received Certificates of Participation and Consolation Cash Prizes. The event has demonstrated the significance of statistics in understanding societal trends and development, emphasizing the importance of fostering statistical literacy among the youth.
