The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Philippine Statistics Authority – Local Government Units Data Sharing for Business Registers (PLDS-BR) Project Forum on 06 September 2024 at J & V Hotel and Resort, City of San Fernando, La Union attended by participants from the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) in each Local Government Unit (LGU) in the province.
The PLDS-BR Project aims to improve the content and coverage of the list of establishments (LE) and enhance the Statistical Business Register (SBR) to provide a reliable sampling frame for economic surveys and generate relevant economic indicators.
To support this initiative, PSA-La Union hired two Statistical Analysts (SAs) for the PLDS-BR Project, who will be assisted by the SA from the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA). Their main tasks include coordinating with the LGUs and preprocessing of the Business Registers collected from the BPLO.
During the orientation, the representatives from the BPLO were enlightened about the purpose, various aspects, and benefits of the PLDS-BR Project for both the PSA and the LGUs. After a comprehensive discussion during the open forum, the LGUs expressed their support by demonstrating their willingness to provide the necessary resources and data for the successful implementation of this project.
The PLDS-BR Project’s success is indeed a collaborative effort between the PSA-La Union and the LGUs in the province. It serves to reinforce the shared commitment in fostering growth and development in La Union.
