24 SEPTEMBER 2024, SARRAT, ILOCOS NORTE. The Ilocos Norte Provincial Statistics Office (PSO) participated in the "Tree Growing for a Cause" initiative on 17_September 2024, to celebrate the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. This event, held at Barangay 22 San Cristobal, Sitio Sagpatan in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, focused on reforestation and environmental sustainability, aligning with the anniversary theme, "Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future Ready Servant Heroes." The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, foster collaboration among public agencies, support the national reforestation agenda, and highlight the role of public servants in championing environmental stewardship.
The event began with an opening ceremony featuring speeches from officials of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), who underscored the importance of sustainability in public service. Representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) provided valuable training on effective tree-planting techniques and the significance of using native species. Participants, including PSA employees, CSC officials, DENR representatives, and local volunteers, collectively planted over 300 native seedlings. The event also included a commitment pledge from the participants to support long-term reforestation and environmental activities
PSA’s active involvement in this initiative reflects its dedication to public service and environmental protection, reinforcing the responsibility of public servants to lead in sustainability initiatives.
