The Ilocos Norte Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) joined the launching of the HAPAG KATUTUBO Project of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in collaboration with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on 17 September 2024 in Adams, Ilocos Norte.
The PSO headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Marilyn P. Vergara provided services to the Indigenous Peoples (Ips) and residents of the municipality particularly National ID registration and consultation, updating/correction of demographic information, replacement of damaged National ID cards, and assistance in the generation of Digital National ID. During the event, twenty (21) individuals were successfully registered to the National ID System, six (6) registrants were able to update their biometric information, seven (7) digital National ID were generated, and one replacement of damaged ID was processed.
Moreover, the Regional Statistical Services Office I conducted Mobile Civil Registration System (CRS) Caravan and provided copy issuance of birth, marriage, and death certificates, Certificates of No Marriage (CeNoMar), and advisory of marriages.
The launching of HAPAG KATUTUBO (Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay) in Adams with the theme “Katutubo, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” underscores three notable activities: First is the “Pinagtunak” Ritual and tree planting activity in the early morning. It was followed by the Opening Ceremonies which highlight keynote messages, awarding and signing of manifesto of support, ceremonial awarding to beneficiaries, and cultural presentations. National Government Agencies, Non- Government Organizations and Civil Society Organizations, and other partners/stakeholders were able to extend their services to the community as the event was also aligned with the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.
The project is intended to promote Food Security and Nutrition in the Ancestral Domains, as well as the development and improvement of food industries.
The Yapayao ICCs/IPS of Adams, including the Kankanaey ICCs/IPs living with them have received agricultural facilities and equipment, fingerlings, high value crops, and programs and services that were provided by the participating agencies.
