The 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Census Coordinating Board, in coordination with the Ilocos Norte Provincial Statistics Office (PSO), convened at the Pasuquin Municipal Hall, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte on 10 May 2024, for the upcoming implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.

The convening was presided over by the Municipal Planning and Development Officer-in-Charge, Precious Johnsen D. Luna, and attended by Engr. Editha O. Jaramilla, PSA Senior Statistical Specialist, Renz Refani, PSA Information Systems Analyst II, Sangguniang Bayan Member Wilfred S. Malapit, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer April Anne Manrique, and other members of the coordinating board.

Concerns on the scope and coverage, collection, timeline, resolutions, and roles and responsibilities of the coordinating board members were covered during the convening. Prevailing and possible issues and problems that may emerge were also discussed.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) oversees the implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 11315, also known as the CBMS Act. Running parallel to the CBMS is the Census of Population, aligned with RA 10625, or the Philippine Statistics Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 325. These efforts are conducted concurrently to furnish vital household data essential for local-level program implementation, planning, and impact monitoring. Additionally, it serves to update the nation's population and social registry, contributing significantly to economic development and the alleviation of poverty.
