08 May 2024 - MARCOS, ILOCOS NORTE. The Second Municipal Convening of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Municipal Census Coordinating Board (MCCB) was held at the Marcos Municipal Hall, Marcos, Ilocos Norte on 08 May 2024 in preparation for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS implementation.

The activity was participated by key officials and staff from the Local Government Unit (LGU) which includes Vice Mayor Rhonel Allan Coloma, Sangguniang Bayan Members Julius J. Casco and Eugenio Navarro, Municipal Planning and Development Officer Donna Bless A. Isaac. The Ilocos Norte Provinicial Statistics Office (PSO) was represented by Senior Statistical Specialist Engr. Editha O. Jaramilla and Statistical Specialist II Ariane Mae A. Ulep.

The second convening focused on detailing the implementation mechanism of the census, particularly the scope and coverage, timeline, collection, data items, resolutions, and the roles and responsibilities of the coordinating board members.

The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is a joint venture targeted at the advancement of the quality of life of the residents of the municipality through gathering detailed household information. This integrated approach allows the agency to update the population and social registry of the country, optimizing resource allocation. The information collected will be turned over to the concerned policymakers to formulate evidence-based program implementations and efficiently allocate the country’s resources, upholding economic development and poverty alleviation.
