30 April 2024 - PAOAY, PHILIPPINES. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Paoay, completed the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Turnover Ceremony at the PESTA Building, Paoay, Ilocos Norte. This event marked the culmination of the 2022 CBMS initiative involving eight municipalities, with Paoay as the final recipient of the CBMS data.

The turnover ceremony was graced by prominent figures from LGU Paoay, including the Honorable Mayor Shiella A. Galano, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Department Heads, Barangay Officials, and LGU Personnel. Notable representatives from the PSA, such as Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, Chief Statistical Specialist Marilyn P. Vergara, and Senior Statistical Specialist Editha O. Jaramilla, were also in attendance to commemorate the occasion.

Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman highlighted the importance of acquiring thorough data from each barangay to enable the municipality to strategically devise and execute programs tailored to meet the requirements of its residents.

The presentation of the 2022 CBMS data signifies the joint dedication of the PSA and the municipality of Paoay towards governance guided by data and inclusive development. Through leveraging data, the objective is to equip local policymakers with the necessary tools to enhance transparency and uplift the quality of life for every resident of Paoay.

CBMS is a structured technology-driven system designed to collect, process, and verify essential disaggregated data. This information is instrumental in local planning, facilitating program implementation, and monitoring impacts, all while fostering community engagement. The system revolves around generating data at the grassroots level, serving as a foundation for identifying households eligible for government initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting economic growth.
