The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office joins in the annual activity of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Juan, dubbed as “Danggayan sa Barangay 2024,” from 06 February to 21 March 2024 that aims to extend basic services to the residents in their respective barangays.
LGU San Juan partnered with PSA - La Union and PSA - Regional Statistical Services Office I (RSSO I) for the dissemination of information on the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) as well as to conduct mobile registration and disseminate on civil registration and the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in all component barangays of the municipality.
The BRAP is one of the major programs currently implemented by the PSA to ensure that all births of Filipinos in the marginalized sector, particularly those belonging to the Indigenous People (IP), Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sector, are registered in their Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs). Meanwhile, the CBMS which will be integrated with the Census of Population (PopCen) is a nationwide undertaking of the PSA in 2024 with the goal to update the social registries of the national government agencies, particularly the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Among the other services offered during Danggayan sa Barangay 2024 are free bloodtyping, medical checkups, medicine, and legal consultation, as well as Social Security Services (SSS) contribution and real property tax payment.
As of 13 March 2024, a total of 114 birth records from LGU San Juan have been submitted for verification through the BRAP, of which a total of 10 registrants have successfully completed the BRAP registration, with four of them having successfully received birth certificates printed in Security Paper (SecPa) and six waiting to receive their birth certificates.
