The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) has once again acknowledged its unwavering commitment to excellence and dedication to statistical initiatives as it achieved a three-peat victory being hailed as the Champion in the Search for Best 34th National Statistics Month (NSM) Province Implementer in Ilocos Region.
The said award was received by the La Union Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) led by Chairperson, EnP Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Vice-Chairperson, Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Danites E. Teñido, PhD of PSA-La Union during the 34th NSM Regional Closing Ceremony spearheaded by the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) I on 27 October 2023 at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, City of San Fernando, La Union. In addition, PSC La Union was also awarded as Best PSC in Ilocos Region for the second time.
Meanwhile, the province of Pangasinan landed as the 1st Runner up, while the provinces of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte were recognized as 2nd Runner up and 3rd Runner up, respectively.
The event was attended by Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), PSA-RSSO I and its Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs), winners of the 34th NSM contests, and the media.
Part of the highlighted activities of the province of La Union during the 34th NSM month-long activities were the various NSM contests participated by the academe, LGUs, and Provincial Line Agencies (PLAs); provincial statistical exhibit and information desk including statistical exhibit of the component Local Government Units (LGUs); media interview; hanging of NSM streamer; and data dissemination in selected schools.
The provinces were assessed based on its NSM activities, performance of the province in the regional contests, PSC policy-making, generation and use of statistics, and strengthening of statistical institutions.
The recognition awarded to the Province of La Union not only reflects the consistent efforts of all kaprobinsyaan in implementing effective and impactful NSM programs but also underscores the spirit of Probinsyanihan among the participating PLAs, LGUs, academe, and the media in making the La Union NSM month-long celebration a success.
