About HECS

Household Energy Consumption Survey (HECS) is a nationwide undertaking designed to collect and update data on residential energy consumption patterns and preferences. Presents data that can be utilized by both government and nongovernment agencies, as well as the academe for in-depth researches and studies. These energy statistics serve as inputs and bases for the formulation of policies and programs concerning energy-related social issues, for assessing energy targets, and to identify the relevant parameters that affect energy consumption of households and the industry sectors. This maiden publication of HECS also presents information on household utilization of fuels, supply systems and patterns of energy use, and other variables that may be useful to assess the current energy scenario in the Philippines. For comparative purposes, 1989 and 1995 data are presented.
