26 SEPTEMBER 2023 – BACOLOD CITY. Delegates from Ilocos Region headed by PSA-RSSO 1 Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman participated in the 2nd Philippine Identity Summit (2PIS) and 3rd National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (3NCCRVS) at the SMX Convention Center, Bacolod City. Around 75 Local Civil Registrars and personnel from the Local Civil Registry Offices in the region attended this annual event.

The theme for the 2nd PIS and 3rd NCCRVS is “Promoting Inclusivity and Accessibility through Digital Transformation.” The event aimed to provide updates to stakeholders about the milestones and developments on PhilSys, and recent updates on civil registration and the vital statistics generated in the country.

PSA National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa underscored in his opening remarks the importance of digitalization of civil registration services and further enhancing the digital capacity of PhilSys in providing inclusive and more accessible services to the people.

The convention featured plenary sessions during the first day which tackled updates on linking CRVS presented by PSA OIC-Deputy National Statistician Fred S. Sollesta, and on CRVS Strategic Plan and Country Profile presented by Commission on Population and Development Executive Director Undersecretary Lisa Grace S. Bersales. Talakayan on CRVS and PhilSys were also conducted on the same day.

The 2nd PIS and 3rd CRVS will run from 26 to 28 September 2023 which will involve breakout sessions on PhilSys and CRVS. Awarding Ceremonies on the Search for the 2023 Most Innovative Local Civil Registry Office and 2022 Outstanding Local Civil Registry Offices is scheduled during the last day of the convention.
