The Labor Force Survey (LFS) is a monthly and quarterly survey of households that measures the current state of the Philippine labor market. It is also used to calculate national and regional key employment indicators. Data from the survey provides information on major labor market trends such as labor force participation and unemployment rates, hours worked, past industries and occupations of the currently unemployed persons.
Meanwhile, the Family lncome and Expenditure Survey (FIES) is the twentieth survey conducted since 1957 and is a rider to the July 2023 and January 2024 rounds of the LFS. ln addition, the FIES is the country's main source of data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure including cost and consumption volume. These data are used in determining the income distribution, levels of living, spending patterns, and the degree of income inequality among families.
Further, the FIES is the main source of data for the estimation of the official poverty statistics.
Around 6,144 sample households in the region will be visited and interviewed for this round. Around 255 Statistical Researchers and Team Supervisors are hired to conduct the data collection using the Computer-Aided Personal Interview.
ln line with this, the PSA enjoins all the sample households to support and participate in both surveys by providing truthful information. Authorized PSA interviewers will visit the sample households to conduct personal interview.
