Registered live births in the region decreased  

  • The number of registered live births in Ilocos Region in March 2021 summed up to 5,525 with a decrease of  1 percent from March 2020.  
  • The daily average birth registration in the region in March 2021  was at 178 births, which was 1 percent lower than the daily average in March 2020.
  • The highest daily average birth registration in March 2021 and March 2020 was recorded in Pangasinan at 109 and 106, respectively.   
  • Ilocos Sur posted a decrease of 19 percent on the daily average birth registration of the Ilocos region. 
  • On the other hand, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan posted an increase of 3, 12 and 3 percent, respectively.

Pangasinan highest in terms of registered live births  

  • Pangasinan posted the highest number of registered live births in March 2021  and March 2020 with 3,383 and 3,293 births, respectively. 
  • Pangasinan registered 61 percent of the total registered live births in the region  in March 2021. 
  • La Union followed at 16 percent then Ilocos Norte at 12 percent and lastly, Ilocos Sur at 11 percent.

Dagupan City tops in registered number of live births

  • Among the cities/municipalities in the region, Dagupan City, Pangasinan had the highest registered live birth in the region at 597 births.
  • San Carlos City, Pangasinan followed at 525 then City of Urdaneta, Pangasinan  with 446 births; City of San Fernando, La Union with 411 and City of Alaminos, Pangasinan with 301 births.
  • There were 37 municipalities that recorded the lowest registered births ranging  from 1 to 5.   Of which, seven municipalities registered five births, six registered four births, nine municipalities with three births each, eight municipalities having two births each and lastly, one birth each for seven municipalities.

Males outnumber females in terms of registered live births

  • Males (2,787) outnumbered females (2,738) in terms of registered live births  in March 2021, resulting to a sex ratio of 102 males per 100 females.
  • Pangasinan posted a sex ratio of 106 which was higher than the regional ratio.
  • La Union posted a sex ratio of 102 while Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur posted a sex ratio less than 100.
