Registered live births in the region decreased  

  • The number of registered live births in Ilocos Region in June 2021 summed up to 5,723 with a decrease of eleven percent from June 2020.  
  • The daily average birth registration in the region was at 191 births in June 2021.  That was eleven percent lower than the daily average in June 2020.
  • The highest daily average birth registration in June 2021 and June 2020 was recorded in Pangasinan at 122 and 134, respectively.   
  • All provinces decreased in the daily average of registered live births  from June 2020 to June 2021.

Pangasinan highest in terms of registered live births  

  • Pangasinan posted the highest number of registered live births in June 2021  and June 2020 with 3,661 and 4,021 births, respectively. 
  • Pangasinan registered 64 percent of the total registered live births in the region  in June 2021. 
  • La Union followed at 15 percent, then Ilocos Sur at 11 percent and Ilocos Norte at 10 percent.

Dagupan City tops in registered number of live births

  • Among the cities/municipalities in the region, San Carlos City, Pangasinan had the highest registered live birth in the region at 775 births.
  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan followed at 639 births, then City of Urdaneta, Pangasinan with 454 births, City of San Fernando, La Union with 390 births and City of Alaminos, Pangasinan with 299 births.
  • There were 42 municipalities in the region that recorded the lowest registered births ranging from 1 to 5.     Of which, nine municipalities registered five births, five registered four births, eight municipalities with three births each, nine municipalities having two births each and lastly, one birth each for eleven municipalities.

Males outnumber females in terms of registered live births

  • Males (2,940) outnumbered females (2,783) in terms of registered live births  in June 2021, resulting to a sex ratio of 106 males per 100 females.
  • Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union posted sex ratios of 109, 117, and 112, respectively, which were higher than the regional ratio.
  • Pangasinan posted a sex ratio of 102, which was lower than the regional ratio.
