Registered live births in the region increased  

  • The number of registered live births in Ilocos Region in 2nd Quarter 2021 summed up to 16,142 with an increase of one percent from 2nd Quarter 2020.  
  • The daily average birth registration in the region was at 177 births in 2nd Quarter 2021. That is one percent lower than the daily average in 2nd Quarter 2020.
  • The highest daily average birth registration in 2nd Quarter 2021 and 2nd Quarter 2020 was recorded in Pangasinan at 112 and 105, respectively.
  • All provinces, except for Pangasinan, posted a decrease in the daily average of registered live births from 2nd Quarter 2020 to 2nd Quarter 2021.

Pangasinan highest in terms of registered live births  

  • Pangasinan posted the highest number of registered live births in 2nd Quarter 2021  and 2nd Quarter 2020 with 10,186 and 9,558 births, respectively. 
  • Pangasinan registered 63 percent of the total registered live births in the region  in 2nd Quarter 2021. 
  • La Union followed at 15 percent, then Ilocos Sur at 12 percent and Ilocos Norte at 10 percent.

Dagupan City tops in registered number of live births

  • Among the cities/municipalities in the region, Dagupan City, Pangasinan had the highest registered live birth in the region at 1,911 births.
  • San Carlos City, Pangasinan followed at 1,700 then City of Urdaneta, Pangasinan  with 1,256 births, City of San Fernando, La Union with 1,119 and City of Alaminos, Pangasinan with 889 births.
  • There were 20 municipalities in the region that recorded the lowest registered births ranging from 1 to 5.  Of which, seven municipalities registered five births, two registered four births, five municipalities having two births each and lastly, one birth each for six municipalities.

Males outnumber females in terms of registered live births

  • Males (8,305) outnumbered females (7,837) in terms of registered live births  in 2nd Quarter 2021, resulting to a sex ratio of 106 males per 100 females.
  • Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union posted sex ratios of 108, 107, and 107, respectively, which was higher than the regional ratio.
  • Pangasinan posted a sex ratio of 105, which is below the regional ratio.
