The Vital Statistics released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) based on civil registration showed that Ilocos Region registered an increase of 47.2 on the number of registered marriages for the period January to July 2022 as compared to the same period of 2021.  This also accounted a daily average of 74 registered marriages in the region from January to July 2022.

On the other hand, figure 2 showed that for 2021 and 2022, the month of April recorded the highest number of registered marriages, while the month of July had the lowest for both periods. The monthly number of registered marriages in Ilocos Region for January to July 2022 also recorded higher compared to the monthly registered marriages of the same periods in 2021.

Meanwhile, the province of Pangasinan remained to have the highest number of registered marriages from January to July 2022 at 9,191 (59%).  This was followed by La Union with 2,478 which shared 16% of the region’s total registered marriages, and Ilocos with 2,295 that shared 14%.  Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte registered the least number of registered marriages at 1,682 (11%). 

On the other hand, table 1 showed that all of the provinces in the region recorded higher number of registered marriages for the period January to July 2022 as compared to the same period of 2021.  Ilocos Norte recorded the highest percentage change at 56 percent while La Union recorded a lower increase (45 percent) compared to the regional average increase in the number of registered marriages.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan recorded the highest daily average registered marriages from January to July 2022 at 43 per day.  This was followed by La Union at 12 daily registered marriages, then Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte at 11 and 8 average daily registered marriages, respectively. 

Same with Ilocos Region’s overall trend, all the provinces recorded the highest number of registered marriages during the month of April 2022, while the lowest number was recorded in July 2022, except Ilocos Norte which recorded the least number of registered marriages in February 2022.

Based on the number of registered marriages per month, Ilocos Norte recorded the highest average daily registered marriages in April 2022 at 13, followed by the month of June with an average of ten daily registered marriages. 

Likewise, Ilocos Sur recorded the highest daily average in April 2022 at 20 registered marriages per day, followed by the months of February (14 per day), and May (13 per day). 

April 2022 also recorded the highest daily average of registered marriages for the provinces of La Union and Pangasinan at 21 and 63, respectively.  For La Union, the months of February (19 per day) and May (11 per day) ranked 2nd and 3rd highest on the daily average of registered marriages in 2022, while February (59 per day) and March (50 per day) for the province of Pangasinan.
