07 May 2021 – Ilocos Region. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) conducted a virtual ceremonial launch for the 2021 Updating of the List of Establishments (2021 ULE) with representatives from regional line agencies, business establishments, local government units and the media.
Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS) Teresa B. Olarte and Information Systems Analyst I (ISA I) Joseph M. Severo discussed salient points on the conduct of the 2021 ULE in the Ilocos Region. SrSS Olarte discussed the overview, objectives and the legal authority of the 2021 ULE. She said that the 2021 ULE is a nationwide undertaking that aims to provide an updated and reliable sampling frame for the census and surveys of establishments and enterprises. She added that the activity is necessary to assess the changes brought by the pandemic and some natural calamities that happened in 2020.
In addition, ISA I Severo discussed the scope and coverage of the said activity. He said that door-to-door canvassing of business economic units will be done to capture "new" establishments and determine their characteristics for inclusion in the list. He added that an authorized PSA interviewer will visit the establishment to conduct a personal interview. He also explained that there are other options to provide information such as: Self-Administered Questionnaire in either printed form or fillable-pdf format; Accomplishment of Online Inquiry Form; and telephone interview.
On the other hand, Statistical Specialist II Engr. Divino Amor P. Rivera, Ph.D. presented the results the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI). An open forum followed after his discussion.
In line with this, the PSA enjoins all establishment business units to support the nationwide conduct of the 2021 ULE by providing the required information. The updating activity will be conducted on 10 May to 31 July 2021 and will cover an estimate of 1.3 million establishments nationwide.
