ILOCOS REGION  - The Philippine Statistics Authority –  Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA – RSSO I) will conduct  the July 2021 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and the 2021 Family Income  and Expenditures Survey (FIES) Visit I on 08 to 31 July 2021   in Ilocos Region.  

The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households  which aims to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It also measures the current state  of the country’s labor market and is used, among other things, to calculate national, and regional employment indicators.

In addition, the LFS also provides statistics on levels and trends  of employment, unemployment and underemployment for the country.

On the other hand, the 2021 FIES is the rider survey for the July 2021 LFS. The FIES is a nationwide household-based survey conducted  every three years in two separate visits. 

The FIES gathers data on the income distribution and levels of living  and spending patterns of Filipino families across the country.  This 2021 FIES will be able to capture the effects of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on the expenditure pattern of families  and will be the nineteenth survey conducted from the time it started  in 1957.

The first round/visit of the 2021 FIES will gather data on income  and expenditure of families for the first semester, 01 January  to 30 June 2021.  

A total of 6,144 randomly selected sample households in the region  will be interviewed. The RSSO I will hire 204 Statistical Researchers  and 20 Team Supervisors who will undertake both surveys  using the Computer-Aided Personal Interview.

Minimum public health, and safety standards for the containment  of the COVID-19 must be strictly observed during all phases  of the field operations.

The PSA appeals to the sample households to cooperate and provide truthful, complete, and accurate information to the enumerators.  The respondents are assured that data to be collected in the survey  shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause  under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys,  and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information  and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
