Civil Registration Month is observed every February, pursuant to Proclamation 682 issued on January 28, 1991 by then President Corazon C. Aquino. Relative to the event, then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared February 23 of every year as Universal Birth Registration Day.
 
The theme “Inclusive and responsive CRVS: Working smarter through innovation” informs us that the emphasis is continuously improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) through awareness on the importance of civil registry documents. It also coincides with the advocacy of “getting everyone in the picture” that aims to accelerate and focus efforts to improve CRVS systems by creating greater awareness and developing innovations and making tools and resources available.
 
In line with the 29th CRM celebration, the Philippine Statistics Authority RSSO I (Ilocos Region) will conduct the following activities: Display of streamers, Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Exhibit, Symposium/Dialogue ”Concerns on Civil Registry Documents” affecting government transactions, Public Forum, Training on Basic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Concepts and Procedures, Medical Terminology Training, Free Issuance of Birth Certificate to randomly selected Senior Citizens, Civil Registration Quiz for PSA Personnel and Participation to activities of Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs) in collaboration with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) such as Thanksgiving Mass, Mobile Registration, Motorcade, Information Dissemination and Updates on Civil Registration and Mass Wedding Ceremonies.
 
To make this endeavor a fruitful one, we are urging the public, various stakeholders and interested parties to support and actively participate in the various activities organized for this year’s Civil Registration Month celebration.
