The Philippine Statistics Authority – Pangasinan Provincial Statistical Office joined the Provincial Consultation Workshop with Stakeholders in the Agriculture and Fishery Sector as Input in the Compilation of the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) in Ilocos Region.

The consultation workshop was participated by PSA-RSSO 1 Staff, led by Regional Director Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman; PSO Staff from the 4 provinces of Ilocos Region, led by their respective Chief Statistical Specialists; and stakeholders from Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan. Also in attendance are representatives from respective Provincial Planning Development Offices, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, BFAR Provincial Fishery Office, Municipal/City Planning Development Offices and DA-LGUs, State Colleges and Universities, and various Agri-Fishery Associations.

The workshop, facilitated by the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS), aimed to provide stakeholders with an overview of the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) that will be piloted in the region this year, and to identify primary inputs in relation to the Value of Production in the agricultural and fisheries sector. In particular, as mentioned by Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman in her welcome remarks, the activity sought to do the following: provide a summary of the appreciation of agricultural and fisheries production; request information on the identification of goods to be featured in each province; identify issues and concerns related to agricultural statistics; and provide possible solutions to these issues and concerns. 

As part of the workshop, outputs from each province were showcased. Highlights in the fishery, crops, and livestock and poultry statistics of Pangasinan were presented by Ms. Bora R. Doctolero of the Provincial Agriculture Office, Ms. Violeta M. Laforteza of the Provincial Agriculture Office, and Ms. Raquel V. Palad of the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, respectively.
