The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office achieved 101.7 percent of its 266,066 target for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Phase 1 registration as of end of May 2021.

A total of 270,456 Filipinos already completed the PhilSys Step 2 Phase 1 registration that involves the validation of supporting documents and capture of biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photograph at the PhilSys Fix Registration Center (FRC) and Local Government Unit (LGU) - based Registration Centers (RCs).

PSA-La Union achieved this milestone with the unwavering and strong support of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), all LGUs in the province, and the committed PSA PhilSys registration personnel despite the challenges brought about by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The registrants catered during the PhilSys Step 2 Phase 1 implementation were those who completed assisted PhilSys Step 1 registration from October to December 2020 or those who were visited during the house-to-house collection of demographic information like full name, sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, address, Filipino or resident alien, marital status, mobile number and email address.  This initial step enabled the PSA to schedule appointments at the registration centers to manage the number of registrants in adherence to health and safety protocols laid by the government.

La Union is one of the selected 32 provinces nationwide that gradually rolled out on a small-scale basis starting in February this year to ensure efficient and manageable registration process and to secure the health and safety of both registrants and registration staff at all registration centers situated in each of the municipality.

Successful registrants who have already completed their PhilSys Step 2 registration need to wait for PhilSys Step 3 registration which involves the generation of a unique 12-digit PhilSys Number (PSN) after deduplication/validation process.  Validated data of applicants will be transmitted to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for PhilID card production and personalization.  The PhilID cards will be delivered to successful registrants through the Philpost at the preferred delivery address of the registrant.
