The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office has resumed its implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Registration in La Union starting on January 24, 2022.

As of end of December 2021, PSA-La Union already registered a total of 529,933 registrants for PhilSys Step 2 Registration. This involves the validation of supporting documents and capture of biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photograph at the PhilSys Fix Registration Center (FRC) and Local Government Unit (LGU) - based Registration Centers (RCs).

Successful registrants who have already completed their PhilSys Step 2 registration need to wait for PhilSys Step 3 registration which involves the generation of a unique 12-digit PhilSys Number (PSN) after deduplication or validation process.  Validated data of applicants will be transmitted to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for PhilID card production and personalization.  From May 1, 2021 to January 13, 2022, La Union has a total of 150,500 successfully delivered PhilIDs to PhilSys registrants.

PSA-La Union achieved this milestone with the unwavering and strong support of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), all LGUs in the province, and the dedicated PSA PhilSys registration personnel deployed in each registration center in the province who provided quality service to all PhilSys registrants while ensuring that health and safety protocols are strictly implemented during PhilSys Step 2 operation.

A total of 21 Registration Centers including the FRC are established in each of the city/municipalities in the province. However, with the reduced number of Registration Kits assigned at the Provincial Office for the year 2022, the municipalities in the province are clustered and will take turn as to the schedule of PhilSys operation. The clustered LGU-based Registration Centers are the following: Rosario, Pugo and Santo Tomas; Agoo and Aringay; Bauang and Caba; Naguilian, Burgos and Bagulin; San Juan, San Gabriel and Bacnotan; Balaoan, Santol and Luna; and Bangar and Sudipen.

The PhilSys Step 2 Registration continues in 2022 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic; hence, the PhilSys Registration personnel will strictly abide with the health and safety protocols laid down by the Local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) at the Registration Centers in all phases of the PhilSys operation.
