The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducts the sixth round of the 2021 monthly Labor Force Survey (LFS) on September 8 to 30, 2021 in selected areas in the province.
The monthly LFS aims to provide high frequency statistical information on the Philippine labor market to better monitor and understand the current job situation and economy in the Philippines as well as the impact of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) health crisis. Results of the monthly LFS serve as basis for planning, formulation of policies, and implementing programs to create gainful employment and bolster livelihood opportunities for the Filipinos particularly those who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
About 96 randomly selected sample housing units in La Union will be visited by two Statistical Researchers (SRs) under the supervision of the Dr. Danites E. Teñido, Chief Statistical Specialist; Statistical Specialist II Marieta P. Rivera, Provincial Focal Person; and Statistical Analyst Joselito C. Garcia, Alternate Focal Person.
The PSA enjoins the support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and cooperation of sample households in providing truthful, complete and accurate information to the SRs. The respondents are assured that data to be collected in the survey shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
The PSA assures the public that all hired SRs are in good health condition. Minimum public health and safety standards for the containment of COVID-19 are strictly observed during the field operation.
