The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office implemented the February 2023 round of Rice and Corn Stocks Survey for household (RCSS: H) and for commercial establishments (RCSS: C) on February 1 to 4, 2023.

The Rice and Corn Stocks Survey: Household (RCSS:H) is a monthly survey which aims to assess the current rice and corn stocks inventories in the farming and non-farming households nationwide. The survey aims to generate rice and corn stocks inventories for the household sector at the national and regional levels, and assess the stocks levels compared with the same period in the previous year, and the previous month.

Meanwhile, the Rice and Corn Stocks Survey: Commercial (RCSS:C) is a monthly survey which aims to assess the current rice and corn stocks inventories in the establishments. It aims to generate rice and corn stocks inventories held by the commercial sector at the national and regional levels and assess the stocks levels compared with the same period in the previous year, and the previous month.

The rice and corn stocks inventories from the household, commercial and government sectors serve as inputs to the estimation and compilation of national accounts. Moreover, the survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector particularly the National Economic and Development Authority, National Food Authority, Department of Agriculture, and the general public.

PSA-La Union hired eight Statistical Researchers (SRs) who conducted face-to-face interviews with the 255 farming and non-farming households and 50 commercial establishments in La Union through a Paper-Assisted Personal Interviewing (PAPI) approach.

All data obtained in said surveys will be held strictly confidential as stipulated in Section 26 of Republic Act (RA) 10625 and Section 8 of R.A. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act.
