The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office (LUPSO) conducts the Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Reporting System (MPCSRS) February 2022 round on February 1 to 10, 2023.
The MPCSRS is a monitoring system of the growing conditions and actual plantings of palay and corn. It aims to update the Palay Production Survey (PPS) and Corn Production Survey (CPS) estimates of the current quarter based on standing crop and estimates for the next quarter based on planting intentions. The PPS and CPS are among the major agricultural surveys conducted by the PSA.
For this round of MPCSRS, PSA-La Union hired six Statistical Researchers (SR) to interview 156 sample palay and corn farming households in the province through a Paper-Assisted Personal Interviewing (PAPI) approach.
Sample households are encouraged to participate in this survey by providing complete and truthful information. Respondents are assured that the hired SRs will adhere with the health and safety protocols to protect themselves and the respondents from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The PSA also assures the respondents that the data gathered for the MPCSRS are for statistical purposes only. Section 26 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privilege communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.” Moreover, pursuant to Section 19 of RA No. 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act,” the PSA will treat all information gathered in this survey with utmost confidentiality.
