The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office implements the March 2022 Round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) on March 8 to 28, 2022 in randomly selected households and housing units in sample enumeration areas in La Union.
The conduct of the March 2022 LFS is based on PSA Board Resolution No. 08, Series of 2020 - Approving the Conduct of the Monthly Labor Force Survey and the Generation of the Monthly Labor and Employment Statistics. It has a national sample of approximately 11,000 housing units deemed sufficient to provide reliable estimates at the national level. In La Union, two hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) will visit a total of 97 randomly selected housing units from six barangays. These sample housing units are selected from the 2013 Master Sample (MS) for household-based surveys of the PSA.
The monthly LFS aims to provide high frequency statistical information on the Philippine labor market to better understand the current situation of employment and the economy of the Philippines during the unprecedented Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. It is designed to collect information on the distribution of household population 15 years old and over, by employment status, by sex, and age group; distribution of employed persons by major occupation group, major industry group, class of worker, number of hours worked, highest grade completed, nature of employment, and by sex; distribution of underemployed persons by total hours worked, major occupation group, class of worker, and by sex; and distribution of unemployed persons by age group, highest grade completed, by number of weeks looking for work, job search method and by sex.
The authority and mandate of the PSA to conduct the monthly LFS emanates from Republic Act (RA) No. 10625. The data to be collected in the survey shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
The PSA assures the public that minimum public health and safety standards for the containment of COVID-19 will be strictly observed during all phases of the field operations.
