The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office will conduct the April 2022 quarterly round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) on April 8-30, 2022 in randomly selected housing units in sample enumeration areas located in 14 city/municipalities of La Union.
The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It provides information as a basis for the formulation of policies and programs on creating and generating gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reducing unemployment and underemployment, and enhancing the welfare of a working person.
This quarter’s LFS will have a rider on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) related questions. The PhilSys questions aim to assess the extent of registration and duplication of registration among household members 15 years old and over.
PSA-La Union hired six Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct interviews with the 395 sample households through a Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) approach using tablets. The PSA assures the respondents that all hired SRs are in good health condition and will observe the minimum health and safety protocols during enumeration to protect themselves and the respondents from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The PSA again enjoins the support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and cooperation of sample households by providing truthful and complete information to the SRs. The data to be collected in the survey shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act (RA) 10625, which stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding” and Section 19 of RA 10173 which states that “personal information shall be held under strict confidentiality and shall be used only for the declared purpose.” ###
