08 June 2021 - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office will conduct the fourth round of the monthly Labor Force Survey (LFS) on June 8 to 26, 2021 using the Computer-Aided Data Collection System (CADaCS).

In La Union, about 103 randomly selected sample housing units will be visited by two Statistical Researchers (SRs) under the supervision of the Dr. Danites E. Teñido, Chief Statistical Specialist; Statistical Specialist II Marieta P. Rivera, Provincial Focal Person; and Statistical Analyst Joselito C. Garcia, Alternate Focal Person.

The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to provide high frequency statistical information on the Philippine labor market information to better monitor and understand the current job situation and economy in the Philippines as well as the impact of the current Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) health crisis. The survey result will also serve as basis for planning, formulation of policies, and implementing programs to create gainful employment and bolster livelihood opportunities for the Filipinos particularly those who were adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

The PSA enjoins the support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and cooperation of sample households in providing truthful, complete and accurate information to the SRs.   The respondents are assured that data to be collected in the survey shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.

Furthermore, the PSA assures that all hired SRs are in good health condition and will strictly follow precautionary measures against COVID-19 such as strict observance of social distancing, wearing of face mask/shield, and proper hygiene and sanitation. They shall likewise observe all health and safety protocols laid down by the LGUs.
