From July 8 to 30, 2022, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union will conduct the Quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) July 2022 round along with the 2022 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS), as rider survey, to gather information to estimate the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) and to provide data inputs to support the monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It provides information as a basis for formulating policies and programs to create and generate gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reduce unemployment and underemployment, and enhance the welfare of a working person.
Moreover, modules on the Philippine Identification Card (PhilID) awareness, Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and Philippine Competition Act (PCA) awareness, and migration experience in the last five years were included for the July 2022 LFS and 2022 APIS. The PhilID questions aim to assess the extent of registration among household members 15 years old and over. On the other hand, the PCC questions intend to gauge household awareness of the PCC and PCA regarding business competition and improved consumer welfare.
PSA-La Union hired six Statistical Researchers (SRs) to interview at least 396 sample households located in 13 city/municipalities in La Union through the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) approach using tablets.
PSA-La Union enjoins everyone, especially the sample households, to support the July 2022 LFS and 2022 APIS by providing complete and truthful data. Respondents are assured that the hired SRs will adhere with the health and safety protocols to protect themselves and the respondents from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Pursuant to Section 19 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act,” all information gathered in the July 2022 LFS and 2022 APIS will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Section 26 of RA No. 10625 also stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privilege communication and shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.”
