The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office carries out the April 2021 Labor Force Survey (LFS) with Corona Virus Disease – 2019
(COVID-19) related rider questions under the United Nations (UN) Women project from April 8 to 30, 2021. 

 

The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population particularly on the distribution of employed, underemployed, unemployed population 15 years old and over. The survey result aims to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.  

 

Meanwhile, the UN Women’s rider questions aim to collect data on the gendered impacts or consequences of COVID-19 particularly on the changes in time spent by women and men on unpaid household and care work.

 

In La Union, a total of 344 sample households in 25 selected barangays will be enumerated by six hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) using the Computer Aided Data Collection System (CADaCS) under the supervision of the Chief Statistical Specialist and the LFS Provincial Focal Person. Under the new normal, face-to-face and telephone interview shall be adopted by the SRs.

 

The PSA enjoins the cooperation of sample households in this endeavor by providing truthful, complete and accurate information to the SRs.  All data obtained will be held strictly confidential as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 and Section 8 of RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act (Confidentiality). The PSA will release data gathered only in the form of summaries or statistical tables.

 

Furthermore, PSA assures the public that all personnel involved in this undertaking are in good health condition and will strictly follow precautionary measures against COVID-19, such as wearing of face mask and face shield, physical distancing, proper hygiene and sanitation, and wearing of PSA ID at all phases of field operation. They shall likewise observe all protocols laid down by the Local Government Units (LGUs).
