The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducts the 4th Quarter round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) with its rider surveys–the 2021 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) and Awareness Survey on Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and Philippine Competition Act (PCA) - on October 8-30, 2021 using an integrated Computer-Aided Data Collection System (CADACs).

The monthly LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted regularly to gather data on demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It aims to provide quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market. The SOF is designed to gather data on the number and socio-economic characteristics of overseas Filipinos and their remittances while the PCC involves gathering of data in order to gauge household awareness of the PCC and the PCA, and in so doing generate insights on how best to undertake advocacy.

The LFS will be undertaken in randomly selected housing units in sample enumeration areas while the rider survey on the awareness of PCC and PCA will only be asked to the responsible-adult-member respondent of the survey, unlike in the LFS and SOF where individual household members 15 years old and over will be interviewed.

The survey will cover 26 barangays in 14 municipalities in the province that will be visited by eight hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) under the supervision of the Chief Statistical Specialist, Danites E. Teñido, Ph.D.; Statistical Specialist II Marieta P. Rivera, Provincial Focal Person; and Statistical Analyst Joselito C. Garcia, Alternate Focal Person.

The PSA enjoins the support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and cooperation of sample households in providing truthful, complete, and accurate information to the SRs.  Data to be collected in the survey shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.

The PSA assures the public that all hired SRs are in good health condition. Minimum public health and safety standards for the containment of COVID-19 will be strictly observed during the field operation.
