The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) in collaboration with the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) conducts the 2022 National Survey on the Awareness of Private Firms on the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) and the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) or PCC Private Firm Awareness Survey (PPFAS) from January 3, 2023 to March 3, 2023.

The PCC is an independent quasi-judicial body mandated to implement the national competition policy, and enforce the PCA or Republic Act (R.A.) 10667, which serves as the primary competition law in the Philippines for promoting and protecting competitive markets.

Generally, the survey aims to guide the PCC in designing strategies to enhance its advocacy and to educate the public on the relevance of market competition. Specifically, the survey aims to determine the level of awareness of its stakeholders on the PCA and PCC, guide the PCC in assessing the impact of its advocacy efforts, inform the design of its impacts, and raise stakeholders’ awareness on the benefits of competition policy and laws.

The survey results are compared with the annual targets set forth in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 and the General Appropriation Act (GAA). Moreover, the survey results will also be used in evaluating the commission’s advocacy efforts over the years and refining its strategy.

PSA-La Union personnel may distribute the questionnaires to sample establishments and conduct face-to-face interviews to respondents of sample establishments or establishments may accomplish the electronic copy and send the accomplished questionnaires to the official email address of the PSO.

Establishments are assured that the data that will be furnished in the survey shall be treated with strict confidentiality and shall be considered privileged communication; hence, inadmissible evidence in any proceeding as provided for in Section 26 of Republic Act (R.A.) 10625.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all the sample establishments to support and participate in the survey by providing the required information for the success of the conduct of the 2022 National Survey on the Awareness of Private Firms on the PCA and the PCC.
