The Philippine Statistics Authority La Union Provincial Statistical Office will conduct its regular monthly and quarterly Agri-Surveys that includes: Palay and Corn Production Survey (PCPS), Palay and Corn Stocks Survey (PCSS), Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Report   (MPCSR), and Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) to gather information on the level of production of palay and corn; current inventory disposition on livestock and poultry; and other relevant information that would be helpful in the generation of quality agriculture-purpose statistics.

Data gathered from these surveys perceived to be significant as it serves as a guide for the government and private sector in decision making and planning with respect to their farm production and improvement of the livestock and poultry industry. Thus, amidst with the National (and Global) crisis that we are currently experiencing, the PSA will continue to conduct these Agri-Surveys using hybrid approach of interviewing in keeping with the government’s policy to maintain Social Distancing.

In addition, the Business Rapid Assessment Survey Agriculture and Fisheries is a rider survey for this round in coordination with the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) on behalf of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Technical working Group (TWG) on Anticipatory and Forward Planning. The Survey result will serve as basis for the TWG to assess the impact of COVID-19 and Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), and draft appropriate policy recommendation that will help stimulate the economy and adapt to the “new normal” state of economic activities.

The PSA hired and trained Statistical Researches (SRs) will visit the locality to conduct the interview using structured questionnaire. Questions regarding the impact of COVID- 19 and Enhanced Community Quarantine to their farming activities which includes the kind of agricultural activities they are engaged in during the cropping season and indicating the assistance that they need from the government to continue their farming/livestock/ poultry/fishing activities will be asked.

Furthermore, PSA reassures the public that the data gathered of the said survey is for statistical purposes only. Information obtained from the respondents shall be accorded STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL as provided under RA 10625.
