The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will conduct the Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) with 2021 as the reference year covering around 40,000 establishments nationwide.

The 2021 ASPBI is the 49th round since the conduct of 1956 Annual Survey of Manufacturers (ASM). The survey aims to collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy for 2021. It will also gather information on employment, compensation, income, expense, total assets, capital expenditures and inventories and generate indicators from these variables.

Seven types of questionnaires will be used. These questionnaires are: ASPBI Form 1 - Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; ASPBI Form 2 - Mining and Quarrying; and Manufacturing; ASPBI Form 3 - Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air-conditioning Supply; Water Supply; and Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation Activities; ASPBI Form 4 - Construction; ASPBI Form 5 - Wholesale and Retail Trade; and Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles; ASPBI Form 6 - Financial and Insurance Activities; and ASPBI Form 7 - Business and Services. Said questionnaires will be utilized to meet the data requirements of each specific section of the economy as defined under the 2009 Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC).

For this survey round of the ASPBI, the 2021 Survey on Information and Communications Technology (SICT) will be the rider. This is the ninth round for the rider survey which is conducted every two years since 2013. The survey aims to collect information on the availability, distribution, and access/utilization of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) among establishments in the country. The results will be used for assessment and monitoring the progress of ICT in the country. The presence of a reliable, accessible, and affordable ICT infrastructure is necessary for the country’s participation in the information economy.

PSA – La Union hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) who will visit establishments to distribute and collect the questionnaires. Distribution of questionnaires will start on April 11, 2022 and collection on April 18, 2022.   Accomplished questionnaires submitted by the respondents shall be treated with utmost confidentiality as mandated under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625.

The PSA enjoins all the establishments to support the 2021 ASPBI and 2021 SICT by providing the required information.   If face to face collection is not possible, questionnaires can be submitted online through the ASPBI webpage: https://aspbi.psa.gov.ph.
