The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office continuously registers individuals in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) for Step 2 Registration.
In La Union, a total of 594,212 registrants have already completed the PhilSys Step 1 and Step 2 Registration as of July 31, 2022. Step 1 registration is the gathering of demographic information such as a person’s name, sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, address and marital status while Step 2 Registration involves the validation of supporting documents, and capturing of biometric information that include iris scan, fingerprints and front-facing photograph.
The table below shows the summary for the total number of registered applicants for the PhilSys Step 2 Registration in the province from January 24, 2022 to July 31, 2022.
After completion of PhilSys Step 1 and Step 2 registration, the registrant will wait for the final Step of PhilSys which is Step 3 that involves the issuance of PhilSys Number (PSN), a unique, permanent identification number, and the physical identification card called the Philippine Identification Card (PhilID).
The PSN is a randomly-generated number that will serve as a permanent identification number of a registrant. Considered as sensitive personal information, the PSN must be kept confidential and private. When transacting, registrants must use the public version of the PSN – the PhilSys Card Number (PCN), which is also printed in the PhilID card.
The PSA is the lead implementer of the PhilSys, while the BSP is in charge of producing the physical ID cards. For the issuance of the PhilID, the PSA has partnered with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) that serves as the official delivery partner of PhilSys.
