The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office will conduct the Fourth Quarter 2021 Crops Production Survey (CrPS) on November 18-29, 2021 in selected sample farm areas in La Union.
The CrPS aims to generate production estimates on crops other than palay and corn at the national, regional and provincial levels disaggregation. It has production, area planted/harvested, and number of bearing trees/hills/vines as unit for analysis. In addition, the survey is subclassified under three commodity groupings, namely: Non-food and Industrial Crops; Fruit Crops; and Vegetables and Root Crops.
Production data generated from the CrPS will serve as inputs to the Value of Production in the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries and accordingly to the preparation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Moreover, the survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector particularly the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA); Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached agencies such as Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) and Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF); and the general public.
PSA-La Union trained and hired seven Statistical Researchers (SRS) who will visit sample farm in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) strictly abiding with the health and safety protocols in dealing with the respondents. If the area to be visited is a high risk area of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), hybrid mode of interviewing will be implemented by the SRs during the survey. This includes face-to-face paper and pencil interview (PAPI), telephone interview, and sending of accomplished questionnaires through email.
PSA enjoins the support of the LGUs and cooperation of sample respondents to support the conduct of this undertaking. Respondents are assured that data that will be collected from the CrPS shall be covered by the confidentiality of information clause under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged information and such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
