The Philippine Statistics Authority – La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Fourth Quarter Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) on November 21 – 30, 2020 which aims to generate estimates on inventory, supply, and disposition of livestock and poultry commodities from commercial farms.

The CLPS is one of the major agricultural surveys of PSA. The survey is undertaken to measure the performance of the livestock and poultry industry. The data generated from this survey supports the data needs of planners, policy and decision makers, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector particularly the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and other agriculture sector.

The authority and mandate of the PSAto conduct CLPS emanates from the Republic ActNo. 10625 known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, states that “the PSA shall primarily responsible for all national censuses and surveys, sectoral statistics, consolidation of administrative recording system and compilation of national accounts.”

The PSA hired and trained three Statistical Researchers (SRs) who visited the locality to conduct the interview with a total number of seventy-eight (78) sample farms.  All PSA hired personnel were advised to abide with existing health and safety protocols in the conduct of the survey.

Furthermore, PSA reassures the public that the data gathered in the survey is for statistical purposes only. Information obtained from the respondents shall be accorded strictly confidential as provided under Republic Act 10625.###
