The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - La Union Provincial Statistical Office conducts the 2022 Annual Survey of Philippine Business Industry (ASPBI) on 02 May 2023 to 26 June 2023 in randomly selected sample establishments in the province.

The 2022 ASPBI aims to collect and to generate information on the levels, structure, performance, and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the country’s economy. Specifically, the 2022 ASPBI aims to: collect and generate detailed information on employment, revenue, expense, inventories, tangible fixed assets, and total assets of the establishments; generate estimates for other economic indicators such as value added, average compensation and other indicators which are necessary to evaluate the performance of industries at the national and regional levels; generate statistics for micro, small and medium establishments (MSME) where identification of MSME is based on total employment; and gather pertinent information for the updating of the sampling frame of establishment-based surveys.

In preparation to the 2022 ASPBI, PSA-La Union conducted the Third Level Training on 11 to 13 April 2023 to its four hired Statistical Researchers (SRs) who will conduct the distribution and collection of survey questionnaires to a total of 319 sample establishments in the province.

Sample establishments are given multiple options on how they can respond to the survey. They may accessed the online questionnaires available at https://aspbi.psa.gov.ph, utilize electronic questionnaire either in portable document format (.pdf) or Excel (.xlsx) file format, or accomplish the printed copy of the questionnaire.

The data to be collected from the 2022 ASPBI will serve as bases for the government and the private sector in the formulation of policies and development plans. Specifically, the survey results will be used to: construct national and regional income accounts of the Philippine economy; formulate and monitor plans/policies in the attainment of national and regional economic goals; determine and compare regional economic structures and performances; analyze economic performance of MSMEs; conduct market research and feasibility studies; and update the sampling frame for establishment-based surveys.

PSA-La Union appeals to the sample establishments to support the conduct of the survey by providing truthful and complete answers. The PSA assures that all the information that will be furnished in the survey shall be treated with strict confidentiality as provided for in Section 26 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625.
