The Philippine Statistics Authority- Ilocos Norte Provincial Statistical Office will spearhead the celebration of the 32nd Civil Registration Month this February with the theme, “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Implementation Strategies through Digital Transformation”.

The provincial celebration will kick off with the conduct of a consultative meeting with the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) on February 7, 2022 to discuss civil registration updates including the launching of the Civil Registration Service (CRS) Appointment System which is expected to be in full swing this coming March. Other aligned activities such as the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) will also be presented during the activity.

To efficiently inform the public on the CRS processes specifically in the issuance of civil registry documents, an online forum and various radio interviews will also be conducted within the month. Posting of social media cards and infographics containing trivia and latest vital statistics in the province will also be initiated by the Provincial Office on February 14, 2022.

In line with the celebration, PSA Ilocos Norte will also hold its 2nd CRVS Quiz Bee Provincial Elimination for LCRO employees on February 9, 2022 to select the representatives of the province to the regional competition. The coverage of the quiz bee includes trivia, history, and information about CRVS, business processes, policies, and procedures on CRVS, including information regarding the creation of Philippine Statistics Authority. One representative for each of the 23 LCROs in the province are expected to join the competition.

Moreover, training on civil registration for office-based Contract of Services Workers and registration personnel of Philippine Identification System will be administered to provide relevant and adequate knowledge to the employees of the agency.

Aside from the activities that will be organized by the Provincial Statistical Office, joint activities with the Ilocos Norte Civil Registrars Association will also be attended by PSA Ilocos Norte.

The annual celebration of the Civil Registration Month through Presidential Proclamation No. 682 aims to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of the person, enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents and enjoin policy makers and the local government units (LGUs) to provide adequate funds for CRVS and enforcement and administration of laws.
