As of 28 February 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office delivered a total of 120,668 printed Electronic Philippine Identification (ePhilID) in various municipalities in La Union.

The PSA has begun its implementation of the printed ePhilID, the digital version of the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card which is printed on a piece of paper, in October 2022. This serves as one of the proactive strategies of the agency so that registered persons can immediately utilize the benefits of PhilSys, such as faster and seamless transactions in accessing financial and social protection services requiring proof of identity, subject to authentication.

The printed ePhilID encompasses the same information as the physical PhilID card, containing the registered person’s demographic data, front-facing photograph, PhilSys Card Number (PCN), generation date, and QR code.

For authentication and security, the QR code found in the printed ePhilID can be scanned via PhilSys Check through https://verify.philsys.gov.ph and the embedded registrant’s photo will show as an additional security feature to verify the ID’s authenticity.

The PSA assures that every person registered in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) is allocated with a physical PhilID card, which they will still receive even if they claim their printed ePhilID.   Registered persons may visit the online appointment system at https://appt.philsys.gov.ph to check if they are already issued with their PSN and to verify if their ePhilID is ready for printing. To verify, the site requires the transaction number (TRN) found in the transaction slip given during Step 2 Registration.

The PSA continues its coordination and partnerships with government agencies and private institutions to guarantee the printed ePhilID’s acceptance as proof of identity and age.  All national government agencies, local government units (LGUs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), government financial institutions (GFIs), financial institutions, and the private sector shall honor and accept the printed ePhilID as the official government-issued identification document of a person for transactions.

Any person or entity who, without just and sufficient cause, proved to have refused to accept, acknowledge, and/or recognize the printed ePhilID as the only official identification of the holder/possessor thereof shall be penalized in accordance with Section 19 Republic Act (RA) No. 11055.
